The respondent was asked about their work experience prior to the time of the initial survey.

What was the respondent’s first job after school?:

Those who have never left their jobs are “incumbent”.

Those who have left a job only once will be “previous job”.

Those who have left a job two or more times will be “first job”.

The “experience of leaving a job” mentioned here refers to up to the time of the initial survey.
