All respondents who were married at the time of the first survey were asked about the age of marriage to their spouse at the time. For cohorts D and E, we also asked the year/month of marriage and age of marriage together, and asked respondents to fill in one or both of them (if they did not fill in any of them, a non-response code is included).

To find out the duration of marriage, please note the following.

At the time of the first survey, respondents with married spouses were asked about the age of marriage to their spouse at the time. However, there may have been a subsequent separation or bereavement, and they may have remarried. The duration of marriage to the spouse at the time of the survey should be determined from the change in Marital status, which is the questionnaire item for each survey.
